This is why you're being out performed in Fortnite and Crypto...

You need to forget something.


Depression, by my definition, is any lack of enthusiasm and joy for going about your day. What I'm about to share has only been learned by me in the last few hours. This is fresh and hot off the press of decades of wondering why and being a fitness enthusiast. You cannot attain and maintain good physical health without tackling this one thing.





It is a matter of forgetting stress or trauma. It is natural and good to have a depression response. It is a protection and survival mechanism hard wired and built into us.


Think of it this way. What if we had no fears? Fear is a hardwired response that shapes and molds our actions and character through experiences. When we are in danger our body switches to fear mode. It costs a lot of energy but increases alertness, strength, and blood flow. Similarly depression is a hardwired response and has a cost. Both modes are for survival only and meant for a short period of time.


Life is full of trauma and situations we need to forget.


A lack of enthusiasm is a sign something needs to change in our lives. We are built for joy and for thriving in the best performance of our lives. Hope and belief are core to being human; so much so that without them we are already the walking dead. Any real Karens or Chads out there are to be pitied while gently held accountable. They are likely a little dead inside and desperate for some goodness in life.


You can't perform well in any activity if you can't master your schedule to put 1 or 2 min of fitness into your life. You will be left behind. I'm here to tell you that you are allowed to be depressed for a time. You are allowed to be depressed for a time. You are allowed to be lacking in enthusiasm. You are allowed to lack in fitness for a time and let everything go slack. I'm here to tell you that it is okay. But only if you recognize that it is a sign there are other changes in your life you need to make before you can add fitness.


You need to forget something.


One of the benefits of fitness is memory. Another benefit is blood flow. Another benefit is good mood and mood boosting. You and your body will both resist subconsciously if there's something screaming at you that you need to forget. It may be trauma you are living every day; due to work, due to school, due to the people or situations you HAVE to be around, or due to situations you are putting yourself into. Your body will resist good health if it needs to be able to forget. It will resist if it needs to signal to you things are not ideal and need to change.


This is my invitation to you to get out of situations you can. Patch the situations you cannot leave. I've heard of some people surviving a bad home by listening to loud music all the time to escape daily toxic behaviour and words. This is my invitation to you that you don't have to be left behind anymore. You have to take these words as if your life depends on it. You have to identify and stand up for your needs to provide a good mental space for yourself.


This August I am adding to my routine 1 pushup every day of the month. Join me. If you completely lack any fitness. Prepare for it. Hit 1 pushup on August 1st with me. Hit 30 pushups with me on August 30th. You can do this. We can do it together.


One of the biggest mistakes we can make in fitness is to over do it. Get excited. Go to the gym or start working out at home and become impatient. We over do it and give up for exhaustion. So, whether you have good fitness or not. Hit 1 pushup, 1 situp, 1 squat, 1 min walk with me. If we need to we can reset in September. Wash rinse repeat until we are consistently able to enjoy 30 of each of whatever (no gym no weights) workout exercise we want to master. Don't want to do squats? Add something else. Want to only do pushups with me? Do only pushups with me.


Each successive month I will be adding to myself a new set. I know I can comfortably do 40 pushups in good health. I have even done 200 pushups a day with 10 sets while walking. I want to enjoy getting there again. If you want to join me feel free to do so. We don't have to be left behind. We can be enthusiastic together and be each other's hype squad for crushing it in life. Life can be much better than you can imagine right now. Life can mean more than surviving and minimal progress.


With improved mental awareness and guarding our enthusiasm we will be able to engage in all our activities with belief rather than doubt. We will be able to add the things we enjoy and slowly transition into the person we want to become. No more being left behind. Time to flourish and be abundant. Time to be the person we always wanted to become but may have forgotten or given up on. Do yourself a favour and remember that while you forget the traumas and bad situations you need to exit.
