Updated: Mar 15, 2023

Hey there, fellow gamers! Are you looking for a way to boost your brain power and improve your reaction time? Look no further than the turmeric smoothie!

Turmeric, the star ingredient of this smoothie, is a game-changer when it comes to brain health. Why? Because it contains curcumin, a compound that is known to pass between the blood-brain barrier and give energy directly to the brain. That means you can experience the benefits of curcumin immediately, and it's not just hype - there's science to back it up!

But wait, there's more. Curcumin also has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that can protect your brain from damage caused by inflammation and oxidative stress. This can help improve cognitive function and reaction time, which is essential for us gamers!

But don't just take our word for it. A study published in the Journal of Psychopharmacology found that a daily dose of curcumin improved working memory and mood in healthy older adults. Imagine what it could do for you when you're in the heat of a gaming session!

But we're not stopping there. The turmeric smoothie also contains ginger, another ingredient with brain-boosting benefits. Ginger has been shown to improve cognitive function, reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression, and even enhance brain function in middle-aged women. Plus, it adds a spicy kick to your smoothie that'll wake up your taste buds and your brain!

And let's not forget about the other ingredients in this smoothie. Pineapple is high in vitamin C, which is a potent antioxidant that can protect your brain from damage. And almond milk is a good source of vitamin E, which is another powerful antioxidant that can improve cognitive function.

So, what are you waiting for? Whip up a turmeric smoothie and level up your brain power today!

Here's the recipe:

1 banana

1 cup frozen pineapple chunks

1 tsp turmeric powder

1/4 tsp ground black pepper

1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

1/2 tsp ginger powder

1/8 tsp vanilla extract

1 tbsp honey

1 cup unsweetened almond milk

Steps:

1. In a small pot, add the turmeric powder, ground black pepper, ginger powder, and 1 cup of water. Stir to combine.

2. Heat the mixture on medium-low heat until it comes to a gentle simmer. Reduce the heat to low and continue to simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

3. Turn off the heat and let the mixture cool to below 40°C (104°F).

4. Add honey to the mixture and stir well until it dissolves completely.

5. In a blender, combine the banana, frozen pineapple chunks, ground cinnamon, and unsweetened almond milk.

6. Add the cooled turmeric and ginger mixture to the blender and blend on high speed until smooth and creamy.

7. Taste and adjust sweetness as needed with more honey.

P.S. - If the taste is too strong you can do 2 things extra. Ginger and ground black pepper already present in the smoothie recipe add health benefits as well as smooth out the taste and smell of the turmeric curcumin. The 2 extra things to do are to add citrus to it (I used lemon extract) and use coconut milk or use coconut shavings to make your own coconut milk as follows: Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsweetened coconut shavings

  • 2 cups hot water (49-54°C)

Instructions:

  1. Add 1 cup of unsweetened coconut shavings to a blender or food processor.

  2. Pour 2 cups of hot water (49-54°C) over the coconut shavings and let them soak for 10-15 minutes.

  3. Blend the mixture on high speed for 1-2 minutes, until the coconut shavings are finely ground.

  4. If desired, strain the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth to remove any remaining solids. Note: this step is optional if you prefer a thicker coconut milk.

  5. Use the coconut milk immediately or store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
